The Auburn University Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Dr. Rick Good, were kind enough to commission me to write a transcription of “Song to the Moon” from Dvorak’s opera Rusalka. I was honored to receive a recording of the setting’s premiere, and the Auburn University and the ensemble members should be proud! Bravo to these fine musicians and their conductor! Here is the live, unedited recording from their Fall concert held at the Opelika Performing Arts Center. Look for this published transcription from the DevMusic Company later this year, or contact me now to purchase a copy.
It’s great fun to be here helping with the Metro West Conference Area Band Festival at Chaska High School. There are some excellent performances happening today. It’s especially exciting because my conducting mentor Dr. Myron Welch, retired Director of Bands from The University of Iowa, is here as clinician and adjudicator!
I finally get the chance, for the first time this year, to go out on the lake for some ice fishing today! Thanks to John Bestman for providing the equipment and know-how, as always. 😀
I’m very proud to announce the launch of the all new and improved drwardmiller.com website. The new format is more visually attractive, automatically scales to the many smaller mobile devices used to access the site, and it unifies all of my event calendars and blog posts in one seamless package. Thanks to all of you who have patronized the website to the tune of 1000’s of visitors this year alone.
